Did you know our very own Shannon Francis (Aspinline Manager) plays for Bristol Rovers GAS GIRLS?

We sat down with Shannon to find out more!

How long have you been playing football, Shannon?

"I first started at the age of 3 or 4 - I've been playing football for around 13 years."

How long have you been playing for the Gas Girls and what position do you play?

"This is my first season with them and I play Central Defender."

How often do you train?

"Twice a week with the club and two individual sessions by myself."

Is there any particular team or match that you have enjoyed playing against the most?

"So far this season all teams have been great fun to play against. Everyone's different characters and competitive nature mixes together to make every individual game unique and enjoyable."


Is there any team who has been the most challenging to play against?

"We're quite early in the season so far, so difficult to say. Every game we've played so far has been a challenge and a test in many ways being a newly formed team joining a well-developed league."

Which team do you support, other than the Gas Girls of course?

"I am an Arsenal fan - I follow the men's and women's teams, in addition to Bristol Rovers Men's too."

Who is your favourite player?

"I just love Lucy Bronze! A phenomenal player on and off the pitch."

Do you have any hopes for the future as a football player?

"It's been a few years since I played football at a competitive level with confidence. So now being able to play for Bristol Rovers Women's has brought me back a huge amount of confidence and I plan to work hard, be fit and healthy to help me progress in the future. My hope is to just have fun and enjoy every moment. The dream would be to see Bristol Rovers Women's progress in the coming years and work our way up the leagues!"
