Chinese New Year 2020 - The Year of the Rat!

Chinese New Year is Coming!

We have some important lead time information for you below.

This year is the year of the rat, the first of all the zodiac animals. 

The story goes that a race was organised by the Jade Emperor who invited all the animals in the world to take part.

Twelve animals turned up at the start line: a pig, dog, rooster, monkey, sheep, horse, snake, dragon, rabbit, tiger, ox and rat.
 

As a reward for turning up, the Emperor named a year in the zodiac after each one and the race would determine the order each animal would be placed.

As part of the race, they had to cross a huge river. The crafty rat persuaded the ox to let it sit on its head to cross the river.
 

Once they were across, the rat jumped down and ran to cross the finish line first and so became the first animal in the zodiac cycle.


The upcoming Chinese New Year will be celebrated on Saturday 25th January 2020.
